On Saturday, we traveled south to Ahrtal/Bad Neuenahr for some hiking.  Christian was so happy to not have to spend his Saturday shopping for furniture and we had nice (no rain) weather.  This is Germany’s northernmost wine-growing area and has some great hiking trails through the vineyards (Rotweinwanderweg) and the valley.

The pictures aren’t that great as it was hazy and we only had my point-and-shoot camera!

This is a pillar for an unfinished bridge that was started after WWII.  They turned it into a huge climbing wall!

After the hike, we walked through the town and stopped at a winery where Christian sampled wine and we took a tour of the cellar.

It was a perfect way to spend a fall Saturday!
