A sleepy group of Americans got out of the car, started walking around, passing houses and then reaching the shoreline, where boats were lined up in the harbor. We looked at the cute houses, we enjoyed the warm sun and the view of the sea. Then we asked Christian, is this the national park? He looked at us like we were crazy, “no, this is the little fishing village.” The plan for the day was to visit a national park and a fishing village in the Netherlands before driving back to Düsseldorf. In the plans, the national park was always mentioned first, so we thought we would go there first. Guess, not..we were at Marken, a peninsula and former island, which was well worth the visit!
