The last city on our tour was visiting Munich. We had one and half days to explore the city.  There was so much to see: beautiful buildings, beer gardens, tons of shopping and gardens.

We had lunch in the Viktualienmarkt, which is a daily market located in the center of the city.  There are tons of stalls selling everything from beer, fish, cheese, flowers, baskets, etc.  There is even a maypole!  Everyone broke off into groups to explore the market and purchase food.

After lunch we walked to the Hofgarten, where we sat down for ice cream and drinks.  The girls decided that my dad’s hair was long enough to put in small pony tails.  I think this made him decide to get his haircut when he got back to the US.  From the Hofgarten we walked through the Englishgarten.  As we were walking along the path, we noticed at least two naked men sunning on the lawn.  We were all shocked by the nakedness except, of course Christian!  Apparently it isn’t against the law and as long as they don’t disturb anyone they can be in parks naked!

After strolling through the garden, some of our group went back to the hotel to relax.  We went to the former royal brewery, Hofbrauhaus.  We sat out in the courtyard & watched with amazement as the servers carried 6 one-liter beer mugs, 3 in each hand.  That is about 20 pounds of weight!

  1. I wish we’d had the chance to see more of Munich. We both became very sick within the first couple of days. Hopefully we’ll go back one day.
