Aspen, CO

And we’re back!  We just spent two weeks in the US.  The first week we were in Aspen, Colorado and the second week was traveling across Utah visiting National Parks before reaching our final destination of Las Vegas.  Before arriving in Aspen, I spent a couple of days (barely 2…too short) visiting a few friends in Denver.  Christian was supposed to join me but due to work and a security strike at the airport, it didn’t work out.  He ended up meeting everyone in Aspen.  Who is everyone? That would be (front row L to R): Aaron (a friend from Denver), Christian & I, (back row L to R): Christian’s mom, uncle & aunt.

We rented a townhouse at the Alpenblick.  It was in a perfect location, as it was only a block from the gondola in downtown Aspen, as well as all the shops.

The guys went skiing most of the week at Aspen & Snowmass Mountains.  After a couple days of the guys saying how great the snow was, I decided to take a full-day ski lesson at Snowmass & was so happy that I did it.  There were only three students in the group & we were all the same speed and level.  I always feel the most comfortable skiing with an instructor, as I know that they will never take us on a run that we can’t handle!

The ladies explored the shops in Aspen, went for walks along the Roaring Fork river, enjoyed watching the skiers at the base of the mountain & relaxed.  Christian’s mom, aunt & uncle also spent one day at Glenwood Springs, soaking in the hot springs.

Christian’s mom, aunt & I took the gondola up to the top of Aspen Mountain one morning.  We had fabulous spring-like weather.  It was sunny & warm almost the entire week.  It wasn’t until our last day that is snowed.

Christian took the ladies for some snowshoeing at the nordic center one day.

On that same day, Christian & I attempted to snowshoe to Maroon Bells Lake.  We never made it that far…it was a long hike!

We ate most of our meals at our house during the week but we did celebrate Christian’s aunt’s birthday at a wonderful dinner at the Hotel Jerome.

On our last day, the group did a morning snowshoe hike.  The guys then went for one last afternoon of skiing.

Next up…a tour of Utah’s National Parks.
