Arches National Park

We picked up our rental car from the Aspen Airport and started our trek West towards Utah.  We received a slightly larger SUV than what we had requested and it ended up being perfect size for all our luggage.  We stopped at a Target to pick up a cheap Styrofoam cooler and snack/lunch items for the road.  I also picked up a cheap DVD (4 pack-Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Atonement & Elizabeth) because the SUV had a DVD player!  I am not the best car traveller, as I get sick if I read and I am bored within 30 minutes of being in the car, so watching movies is a great way for me to occupy my time (yes, I am like a small child).

Our plan was to visit a different park everyday for the next five days before arriving in Las Vegas.  This map was printed on a placemat at a diner we stopped at for dinner one night.  I snapped a picture of it because it showed all the parks we were planning on visiting: Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon & Zion.

We arrived in Arches National Park in the afternoon.  We drove through the park & stopped at the Devil’s Garden trailhead, where we did a short hike.

We did another (longer) hike to Delicate Arch.  The views were amazing.  On our hike back to the car it started to get dark & we had a brief rain shower before the sun came out again.

We left the park at dark & stayed the night in Moab.
