Before we moved in, we had a bunch of different ideas for this room. It was going to have Christian’s desk, as well as my worktable and craft stuff. Then I decided the basement was fine for my craft stuff and sewing machine, as it can get a little messy. Then we decided we needed to have a daybed in there to accommodate having more than one guest, like when my mom and brother were both visiting. We also tried to figure out how we could have the TV in there (mounted on the wall), so we could have a little den but that didn’t work out. In the end, it is just the desk, bookcases & daybed.
Remember how we had two holes in our wall above the desk? They were from too long mirror hooks. Well, our painter did a great job of patching and repainting the entire wall. You definitely can’t tell there used to be holes!
As I had mentioned previously, the bookcases used to be the same color as the desk, a black-brown. We painted them white and I think they look so much better and stand out against the gray (Farrow & Ball’s Pavilion Gray) paint.
The Hemnes daybed can slide out to two twin mattresses. There is just enough room that the door can open & close. The pillows on the daybed are from West Elm and I had originally bought them for the living room couch, but I decided to take away all the pillows until we can find curtains for the living room.
On our to-do list for this room: light fixture & art/photos on the walls.
