Near Perth is the port city, Fremantle.  It is located at the mouth of the Swan River.  From Perth, you can take a ferry or train there but since Christian and I went one afternoon after Christian was done with work, we drove.  It was a gray day, so we did a quick walk around the town.  Fremantle has many preserved colonial buildings.  It was first settled in 1829 by Captain Charles Fremantle and established as a city in 1929.
