Near Perth is the port city, Fremantle. It is located at the mouth of the Swan River. From Perth, you can take a ferry or train there but since Christian and I went one afternoon after Christian was done with work, we drove. It was a gray day, so we did a quick walk around the town. Fremantle has many preserved colonial buildings. It was first settled in 1829 by Captain Charles Fremantle and established as a city in 1929.
This street makes you believe that you have been transported back to another time!

Just a fun fact: Western Australians call Fremantle, “Freo.”
