My mom, Christian and I just got back from 10 days in the south of France, on the Cote d’Azur (French Riviera). We all enjoyed the warm temperatures, blue skies & clear turquoise water of the Mediterranean Sea. We flew into Nice and upon our arrival drove straight to Cap Ferrat to visit Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild’s home. Béatrice was the daughter of the rich, French banker Alphonse de Rothschild. Work began on the villa in 1907 and wasn’t finished until five years later. This is where Béatrice spent her winters when she wasn’t in either Paris or Monaco.
We took a self-guided audio tour of the interior. It was ornately decorated.
The real beauty of the villa are the gardens. We probably only saw a quarter of it. During Béatrice’s time, she also had a zoo on her grounds.
This back view of the house is my favorite.
And the views of the Mediterranean are beautiful as well. How could you grow tired of this?
