Innsbruck, Austria

After our time in Waidring over Easter weekend, we started our drive back to Switzerland.  Christian’s work schedule was a little crazy these two weeks as he was splitting time between Switzerland and Austria.  I decided to remain with him to be able to explore more of Austria.  We made a brief stop in Innsbruck, which is the capital of Tirol.  Innsbruck hosted the 1964 & 1976 Winter Olympics.  We saw the ski jump as we were driving into the city.  We parked at the main train station and then walked through the Altstadt (old city center).

The Innsbrucker Dom or Der Dom zu Jakob (Cathedral of St. James) is a 18th century Baroque cathedral.

Before leaving Innsbruck and continuing on our way, we stopped in Munding, Innsbruck’s oldest café & Konditorei (confectionery/cake shop).  We picked up chocolate & almond filled croissants and macaroons in the shape of carrots.  We stopped along the river a couple hours outside of Innsbruck to eat our treats.  They were delicious!
